Nylon or Wood Tip Drumsticks for School?
By kevin | August 25, 2007
This is a question which is often asked by music teachers – Should I use nylon or wood tipped drumsticks in schools.
drum sticks come in generally two varieties – the type with the tip carved in shape with wood, and the ones with a plastic (Nylon) tip. The advantage of nylon tips is generally that they give a brighter tone on the cymbals, and they don’t chip like the wood tips can.

My recommendation is usually to go for the WOOD tips. Here is Why:
Nylon Tips can come off! This can and does cause dents in the drum skins- and a drummer may not even know that the tip has come off, and might cause damage before he even realizes!
