Variations in beliefs and values from what the " norm” views the right way enables you to a subculture, but what makes it unique are the instruments they use to make all their voice heard. While most individuals have taken for granted their language, values and beliefs there are some who also within their subculture use their particular music to escape forms of oppression and not enough freedom. Hip Hop and Punk are two large subcultures that are recognized through out the earth. There are many dissimilarities between Hip Hop and Punk and several adding to factors that shape these kinds of subcultures nevertheless ultimately each one's existence serves an identical purpose: a type of escape and expression.

Language can be worldwide, yet holds many different meanings and sounds that vary from one particular subculture to a different. Kendall (2011) stated " Language is also a source of power and social control; language sustains inequalities between people and between teams because terms are used (whether or not intentionally) to " retain people inside their place. ” Hip Hop uses a form of the English language that has become generally known as " Dark-colored English”, or perhaps " Ebonics”. According to Wikipedia (" Hip hop, ” 2013), " Academics suggest its creation stems from a rejection of racial hierarchy of dialect, which placed " Light English” while the superior form of knowledgeable speech. ” I believe the Hip Hoppers were being distinct attempting to stand outside the box of language although avoiding sociable control. Punk uses the English terminology but like the Hip Hoppers in an effort to be different they come with short and lyrics with loud and aggressive music. Both subcultures use all their music while voices of talking out against social injustices such as racism and low income.
